Overview

The process customers undertake to request a leak allowance through the Water Corporation has changed.  The biggest change, is that plumbers are no longer able to submit the application on behalf of the customer.

An Important Message from the Water Corporation

Customer feedback has highlighted the need to review our leak allowance eligibility criteria and process to ensure we are providing support to customers who need it most.

The changes to the process and criteria detailed below will be taking place from Tuesday 5 December 2023.
What is staying the same?
•    A licenced plumber or waterwise garden irrigator must complete repairs to industry standards.
•    Leaks must not be visible and not occur on internal or external taps, fittings or fixtures.

What has Changed?

1. Customers will now be responsible for submitting the leak allowance application rather than plumbers. This way the eligibility criteria will be understood before applying for a leak allowance. As a property manager, you can submit on behalf of your clients.

2. We have updated the leak allowance eligibility criteria so that;
•    Leak repairs must have been completed within 60 days of identification of the leak or notification by Water Corporation.
•    Leak allowance applications must be submitted within six months of the repair date.
•    Leak allowances are not eligible for vacant land.

What do I Need?

In order for you or your clients to complete a leak allowance application you will need;
•    A copy of the latest bill.
•    The meter number.
•    A current meter reading.
•    A digital copy of the repair invoice from a licensed plumber or waterwise garden irrigator.
Once you have applied, our leak allowance team will confirm the outcome within 15 business days.
